For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in aeroplanes (airplanes?). After visiting Duxford Imperial War Museum as a child I knew that I would like to fly one day. Sadly, learning to fly in the United Kingdom is an expensive and time consuming process, unlike the USA where it seems that everyone has a Private Pilot’s Licence.
In April 2023 I would finally get to experience my first flying lesson – sometimes referred to as a Discovery Flight – after my wife bought me an hour lesson with the company Classic Wings as a Christmas present.
I’ve made a video of the day (see below) but I wanted to document some information for people who might be looking to take their first flying less and wonder if it is worth the money (spoiler alert – it is).
